Life is too short to be wasted. It is therefore essential that we do what is important for us. Spend time on yourself. Get to listen to your inner voices. Rediscover the authentic you. Identify meaning of your life. Have the wisdom to go for the right direction – to do the RIGHT THING in life, rather than focus merely on doing the thing right. As such, the persistence in pursuing each of our ultimate goal is more important than the momentary result of the actions (無成有終).
A positive attitude helps to move us along in our pursuance for what is important to us. The right attitude gives us the resilience, as well as the persistence to continue to pursue our goal. Identify the strength in our past. Yet be ever ready to change. A different mindset could open us to a new horizon of achievement. When confronted with scarcity of resources or the impossibility in achieving a goal (窮), it is just so easy that we grumble or give up. Actually, these are excellent opportunities that we could adopt a new mindset and try out new approaches (窮則變,變則通).
Last of all, I appreciate my role in the family as well as at work. I do hope that I can have a harmonious family with shared basic values (家和萬事興). I see that my children will live up to their beliefs in life, and they will be valuable citizens of the world. While at work, I hope to bring forth a group of happy nurses who hold firm to their calling to serve their patients well, who find meanings in their work, and who can stand robust amidst challenges in their lives.
